WATER SAFETY MONTH 2025

Make a Splash—Safely: Celebrating Water Safety Month

Every May, we celebrate Water Safety Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about how to stay safe in and around water. As summer approaches and more families head to pools, lakes, and beaches, it’s the perfect opportunity to educate ourselves, our communities, and our clients on essential water safety practices.

Why Water Safety Matters

Drowning remains one of the leading causes of accidental death, especially among young children. But the good news is—it’s preventable. Whether you’re a pool owner, a parent, a lifeguard, or simply someone who loves to swim, everyone plays a part in promoting water safety.

5 Key Water Safety Tips

  1. Supervision is Key: Always keep an eye on children when they’re in or near water—no exceptions. Even if lifeguards are present, active supervision saves lives.
  2. Teach Swimming Skills Early: Enroll kids in swimming lessons as early as possible. Knowing how to swim is one of the best ways to prevent drowning.
  3. Install Proper Barriers: Pools should be surrounded by four-sided fences with self-closing, self-latching gates. Alarms and pool covers add extra layers of protection.
  4. Know CPR: In emergencies, every second counts. CPR training can make the difference while waiting for professional help to arrive.
  5. Use Life Jackets When Needed: Whether boating or swimming in open water, life jackets are a must for non-swimmers and children.

Water Safety Starts With You

This Water Safety Month, let’s commit to making water fun and safe for everyone. Share tips with friends and family, refresh your CPR skills, and make safety a top priority at every splash.

Together, we can reduce accidents and save lives—one pool, one beach, and one backyard at a time.
