Board Member Spotlight

Our National Secretary, Crystal Lengua-Rowell, shares her perspective on the importance of committee involvement and how members can play a role in strengthening and advancing our industry.

One of the most valuable things the Pool & Hot Tub Council of Canada offers our industry is the opportunity to get involved through our committees. These groups bring together professionals from across the country who are passionate about moving our industry forward-whether that’s through education, safety standards, advocacy, or community initiatives like Women in Swim. The work that happens in these committees directly shapes the resources, programs, and direction of the Council, and it’s a great way for members to contribute their experience while connecting with others who care about the future of our industry. If you’ve ever thought about getting more involved, I encourage you to explore the committees and consider joining the conversation.

PHTCC Education Program Officially Launched

We are proud to officially launch the PHTCC Education Program – a major step forward in strengthening training, professionalism, and long-term workforce development across Canada’s pool and hot tub industry.

Built with input from industry leaders and subject-matter experts, the program delivers structured, practical learning across installation, service, safety, water chemistry, and business operations. Courses are offered through our online learning platform, making it easier for professionals across the country to access high-quality, standardized training on their schedule.

The platform has already been very well received across the industry, with strong early registrations and active participation from professionals nationwide. We are encouraged by the momentum and excited to continue expanding the program as demand grows.

This launch marks the beginning of a broader education strategy focused on elevating skills, supporting career pathways, and ensuring our industry continues to meet evolving regulatory and consumer expectations. Additional courses and advanced levels will continue rolling out throughout the year.

Your Voice at the Table: PHTCC Secures CSA Representation

The Pool & Hot Tub Council of Canada (PHTCC) has secured representation on the CSA Committee responsible for electrical bonding standards affecting pools and hot tubs across Canada– an important step in ensuring our members’ voices are heard in national discussions. Eric Cairnie (Linerwerx), PHTCC Vice President, will represent the Council, bringing forward real-world insights and member concerns as standards continue to evolve. This role also allows PHTCC to stay informed on proposed changes before they impact the industry. Read the full article to learn what this means for your business and how you can share your input.

Get Involved: Chapter Committees Seeking Volunteers

PHTCC Chapters across the country are currently seeking volunteers to serve on their local committees. This is a valuable opportunity for members who want to contribute their voice, share industry insight, and help shape programming and priorities at the regional level.

Chapter Committees play an important advisory role by supporting member engagement, identifying regional issues, and providing input on education, events, and advocacy initiatives. Participation also offers a strong platform for professional growth, industry connection, and leadership development.

Volunteers must be active PHTCC members in good standing. We are looking for committed professionals from all areas of the industry who are willing to participate in meetings and contribute to ongoing initiatives.

B.C. Moves to Permanent Daylight Saving Time

The Government of British Columbia has announced that the province will move to permanent, year-round daylight saving time, ending twice-yearly clock changes going forward. After clocks “spring forward” on March 8, 2026, they will not be turned back in November – marking the final seasonal time shift for the province.

The change is intended to reduce disruption for families and businesses, simplify scheduling, and provide more usable evening daylight during the winter months. British Columbians and organizations will have several months to prepare before the transition is fully in place later in 2026.
